Mahmud Khan (General Staff, 1924)

Mahmud Khan (Amir Lashkar)




Born about 1879 at Tehran. Son of Sartip Hussain Khan who joined the Cossack Brigade on its initiation by Nasr-ud-Din Shaj. Family came from the Caucasian provinces of Persia conquered by the Russians in 1916 and were settled at Hamadan. Has been 27 years in military employ. Sultan (Captain) in 1910. Appointed Amir Lashkar (G.O.C.) of the Southern Division under the new military formation early in 1922. Accompanied Minister of War to meet Shah at Bushire in November 1922.
