Mehdi Quli Mirza Qajar
SAHAM-UL-MULK, MEHDI KULI, MIRZA―
Is the fourth son of Muhammad Vali, Mirza, (born 1789,
died 1862) son of Fath Ali Shah. Muhammad Vali, Mirza, came to Meshed with the
Hisam-ul-Sultaneh and settled with his family in Khorasan.
He, as well as his brother, Khusrao Mirza,
Burhan-ul-Mulk and his nephew, Shahzadah Hasan Khan, Muntasir-ul-Mulk, own,
much landed property in the Meshed, Turbat-i-Haideri and Jam districts.
Saham-ul-Mulk, took part in the siege of Herat under the Hisam-us-Sultaneh in
1857. Was Governor of Jam, Bakharz, Khaf and Yezd at different times and at
present is Mutawalli Bashi (guardian) of the shrine of Imam Reza at Meshed. Has
a son Muhammad Vali, Mirza, known as Khan Baba (age about 18 years) who has
lately returned from Europe after short education. Saham-ul-Mulk is Amir Tuman
and is about 70 years of age.
